How to find a kindy

Find a kindy that is right for you and your family. In Queensland, all children, no matter where they live or what their circumstances, have access to quality, inclusive early childhood education.

Queensland Government-approved kindergarten programs can be delivered in a range of settings, including kindergarten, long day care services or limited hours care.

Kindy tick

Does it have the ‘kindy tick’?

Look for services that display the ‘kindy tick’. These services offer a program delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher, typically 15 hours per week for 40 weeks a year for children the year before school.

Programs are aligned with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline or other Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority accredited learning programs.

How will we get there?

Some kindies offer no or low cost bus services for pick-up and drop-off.

There are also public transport options that can help you and your child get to kindy each week.

Talk to your local kindy to find the best option for your family.

If you live in a rural or isolated community and can’t access a service regularly, you may be eligible to enrol your child in eKindy (a distance education program) or attend one of our remote kindy programs. Some of Queensland’s most remote kindy kids can also learn and socialise in small groups thanks to the eKindy pods initiative.
